Mel is from the R&B town of Chapel Hill, NC where he was drenched in the classic soul music of the 60’s as he first learned to sing and play drums. After moving to Davie County, NC he discovered North Carolina’s rich heritage of bluegrass, old time, and Piedmont blues, took up the harmonica, and began to write and record his own material. He has played with such varied groups as Bro T Holla, the Stanley County Boys, Split Decision, and Tin Can Alley as well as his own Wicker and Jones and Mel Jones and His Bag O’ Bones. Mel contributes original material for The Non-Prophets.
Billy has shared the stage with Doc Watson, Jim Lauderdale, John Cowan, Jack Lawrence, Wayne Henderson & The Kruger Brothers and toured as bassist with bluegrass legend Charlie Waller and The Country Gentlemen, until Charlie's death in Aug. 2004. Billy was inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame in 2016, as a recipient of the Dr. T.R. Bryan Wilkes Heritage Award. He has performed on the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium. Billy contributes original material for The Non-Prophets.

Randy has performed on stage or recorded with Doc Watson, Jack Lawrence, Pete Wernick, Doug Jernigan, and Roy Huskey Jr. and other notable musicians. Randy has toured Japan, New Zealand and Europe promoting Americana music. Randy’s original songs have been featured on BBC Radio & the PBS TV Series “Song of the Mountains.” Randy contributes original material for The Non-Prophets.
